POSITIONING L&D TO WIN

The hair salon industry was forced to shut down and close its doors for months amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Years before the shut downs, the Regis L&D team struggled to find a home as it was volleyed between Franchise Operations and Human Resources Teams.  With an industry decimated by the pandemic, and an organization undergoing massive transformation, structure changes, and changes in leadership, Regis L&D had historically been the first on the list to be eliminated. But not anymore.

In this session, you’ll learn how L&D at Regis not only survived multiple structure and leadership changes but became even more involved in the business and gained buy-in from executives. You’ll see how quick-wins and a sales/marketing mindset shifted the perspective of L&D and put Regis on the path to success.

We have reached a new era in learning where the speed of technology has set the pace, and it is fast.  In the swirl of conversations around learning trends, new technologies, and the modern learner, how are we expected to keep up?

This session will take the big ideas discussed in modern learning technologies and break down the common barriers so you can incorporate them into your own learning solutions.  You’ll discover different challenges you’ll face in implementing major learning technologies being discussed today. Using real-life examples, you'll see how you can approach them regardless of your budget and face the learning technology landscape head-on.

DESIGNING SERIOUS GAMES WITHOUT A SERIOUS BUDGET

In this session, you’ll learn why you don’t need a big budget to create game-based learning!

We review a case study of a serious game built in Articulate Storyline 2 to show how you can design for the learner experience (and not the tool). You’ll see the full-scale design process and the high level development techniques that were used so you can replicate it in your own learning solutions.

USING GAME MECHANICS TO DESIGN SERIOUS GAMES

Feeling like you can’t get past gamification? Tired of matching, memory, or Jeopardy-style games? Everyone hits creative road blocks and if you feel held back creatively by learning objectives, this session is for you.

You’ll learn about common game mechanics and how to apply them to serious games in learning. You’ll walk away with real gameplay and game-based learning examples that can achieve almost any learning objective.
